Intuitive & Culturally Inspired Tattoos
Many clients ask me the same question: How do I know this design came from spirit vs my own ego?
When ego is driving, I love my own work. I’m confident, excited, and can explain every choice I made.
When spirit is driving, I’m nervous. The design isn’t what I planned to draw, it’s what I had to draw. Elements show up that don’t make logical sense to me. My hand goes places I wouldn’t consciously choose.
I’m always anxious presenting these intuitive pieces, there’s vulnerability in trusting what came through without fully understanding it myself.

“Getting inked by Lele was like travelling through the past while being surrounded by the present. My experience was unique in that it was a day when many activities were taking place - it was friendly affair! Set inside Tahanan Studio - a place to hang / “tambay” - folks were serving home made bread and butter, conversations of identity and politics, in another room a mahjong table was left post play, violet tiles scattered and held in place by memories. Then in the distance a manicure was held, smiling happy people surrounded me while I was being tattooed- as if we were mirroring times before, before, before!
Lele is a gifted tattoo artist - full stop. She intuitively designed a piece that I would never have chosen myself, pulling together iconic images with deep meanings which resonated with my core intentions. It takes a very special person who has a trusted relationship with themself and their knowledge to design something so beautiful and unique and empowering. That’s Lele.
Lele is collaborative at the core and is brilliant in all aspects of the word. What she creates shines brightly through her and now in me. It’s an honour to have her work on my body.” ~Hazel
